When someone beats someone,

Not my own he is though,

I rush to stop beating,

Triggered more by pity.

When someone traps someone,

Not my known though she is,

I interfere with it,

Triggered by jealousy.

Pity and jealousy

Are two alternatives

That prompt one to react

In a given situation.
